Preschool Summer Camps

  • Week 1- Week of July 8, 2019

    (Greeting, feelings, breathing)

Summer camp starts off by traveling back in time to learn about dinosaurs! On our adventure we will learn about: different types of dinosaurs, volcanoes, what dinosaurs eat, and fossils! While studying angry ferocious dinosaurs, kids will learn about their own emotions, how to self-regulate their emotions, and strategies for calming down.

  • Week 2- Week of July 15, 2019

    5 Senses
    (Red/green choices/turn taking)

Social skills, play skills and communication skills will be enhanced as students are encouraged to explore the world around them using their five senses. Kids will be encouraged to participate in a variety of cool sensory experiences such as: playing with shaving cream with a peer, requesting colors of kool-aid finger paints, and turn-taking auditory games. While engaging in these experiences we will also be learning about red/green choices, which will be a tool to help our campers behave appropriately in their world, as we explore it.

  • Week 3- Week of July 22, 2019

    (Appropriate play skills)

This week revolves around incorporating creative thinking and planning into our play while encouraging students to work together to create and build. Our imaginations will grow as we learn to construct imaginative structures while also learning problem solving skills using Peter Puppy’s Problem Solving Suitcase.

  • Week 4- Week of July 29, 2019

    Farm Animals
    (Calming down, problem solving)

Down on this farm we learn about Tucker Turtle, an angry turtle who learns how to calm down appropriately. As we practice being Tucker Turtle and calming down, we will also play fun farm games that work on sharing and turn taking skills. Lastly, we will also learn how to greet our peers, and communicate our feelings with others and express what we want and need.

  • Week 5- Week of August 5, 2019

    Community Helpers
    (Reviewing, communication skills)

Social skills, play skills and communication skills will be enhanced as students are encouraged to explore the community around them by studying community helpers. We will be learning the roles of: dentists, doctors, police officers, firefighters and postal workers while also learning about emotions and how others feel. Pretend play skills will be addressed as we pretend to work in the community around us!
